The summer of 2006 was quite intensive for the OLT team. During this quarter the Previous Efforts inventory, Community Mapping process and Asset Mapping results were completed. In addition, there was a successful youth employment initiative and a number of celebrations in Canupawakpa this term. MB E-Association finalized a Community Mapping process during this quarter. The process included compiling data from existing Asset Mapping information and other research that was available to the team. In addition, Troy Fontaine of MB E created a Community Mapping graphic of the community and the relationship of each of these Assets including the GPS Coordinates. Please note: This document requires Adobe Acrobat reader to view Individuals that were involved on the Asset Mapping process from Canupawakpa Dakota First Nation, Function Four (4) and MB E held a golfing celebration gathering in Virden, Manitoba. The celebration was extremely important and allowed the OLT team to discuss the findings, importance of the findings and future plans for this OLT project. Stacey Rogers and Meghan Bodner of MB E attended a "Pow-Wow" celebration in Canupawakpa on June 21st, MB E in partnership with Function Four (4) provided disposable cameras to spectators in order to capture some pictures of this exciting event. These pictures will be available on the MB E website in the near future. On July 10th, 2006 Canupawakpa Dakota First Nation introduced a summer youth employment program. A group of 9 youth commenced various work duties in the community. The program was initiated in order to provide employment opportunities for 36 youth over an 8 week period with the last group of 9 completing their work duties on September 1st, 2006. MB E finalized some additional Interactive Compact Disc (iCD) lessons during this quarter. Three Microsoft Excel lessons were added to the iCD and were distributed to Canupawakpa Dakota First Nation in August to be used by community members. MB E anticipates that there will be an increase in activities during the fall months as a result of some current activities related to e-Learning, e-Business and other e-Solutions. The much anticipated e-Learning Pilot Project initiated by Manitoba Energy, Science & Technology through a partnership with Southwest Horizon School Division, Canupawakpa Dakota Nation and Manitoba E-Association.
