September 2006 - November 2006

The fall of 2006 was quite intensive for the OLT team. During this quarter all Asset Mapping inventories have been completed and Function Four is currently working with MB E-Association in order to prepare a yearly update. This update will feature highlights from the Asset Mapping reports along with key results from evaluation findings to date. It is anticipated that this yearly update will be completed in December 2006. The update will also include results from project stakeholder interviews.
Canupawakpa Dakota Nation and Southwest Horizon School Division commenced the virtual high school courses in September 2006. This project was a partnership between Manitoba Energy, Science & Technology (MB EST), Manitoba E-Association, Southwest Horizon School Division (SHSD) and Canupawakpa Dakota Nation. MB EST has provided all necessary funding to place video conferencing equipment at the Adult Learning Centre, the broadband Internet connection and the instructor training for 2 teachers from the SHSD for the 2006-2007 school calendar year.
As of August 2006, Canupawakpa Dakota Nation has employed Jacie Skelton as the Project Manager for any educational programs including the use of technology for delivery. Ms. Skelton is employed F/T and is providing classroom instruction on high school courses for adult learners.
MB E-Association has been working directly with Canupawakpa Dakota Nation on an application and a comprehensive proposal, if funded, would make the community into an Aboriginal Smart Community. This project is currently in the works and we hope to have more information in the December 2006 to February 2007 update.
On a final note, Paul Concepcion (MB E) worked extensively during this period on the Interactive Training Modules (ITM’s). During this quarter, Paul had completed 3 full modules for Canupawakpa consisting of the following:
