 July 2007 - September 2007
The team accomplished a number of milestones during this quarter. In our previous report, Canupawakpa had dealt with a tornado, which also destroyed their wireless Internet tower. As such, the MB E team worked directly with Canupawakpa Dakota Nation and I-NetLink Incorporated to restore wireless Internet services. That was accomplished.
There are now 2 towers which are providing service to the Kindergarten, CDN Health Centre, CDN Adult Education Centre and the CDN Administration Office. There is now greater service than prior to the tower being destroyed. As a result of the 2 towers, both the Health Centre and the Administration Office are now enjoying wireless high-speed Internet. The Health Centre was using dial-up in the past and the Administration Office was using a satellite Internet service.
The Adult Education Centre now has a new Project Manager. Valerie Chambers has replaced Jacie Skelton at the Centre. Ms. Chambers will be mentoring up to 20 adult learners so that they can work toward their GED Certificates.
MB E also worked for 2 days at the Health Centre wiring with high-speed Internet access points. The support ensured that more than 13 offices at the Health Centre were connected to a wireless Internet connection. This was done by our organization so that we could save the community a considerable amount of money on technical service support. This money can now be used for other important initiatives within the community.
The Adult Education Centre now has the video conferencing equipment in running order once again. Troy Fontaine of MB E, re-connected the video conferencing equipment and has setup the Quality of Service (QoS) switching necessary to improve the virtual service at the Education Centre.
On a final note, Paul Concepcion (MB E) worked extensively during this period on the Interactive Compact Disks (iCD’s). During this quarter, Paul had completed 3 full modules for Canupawakpa consisting of the following:
o Using G-Mail, Hotmail & Yahoo Mail o AVG Anti-Virus o Windows Disk Utilities
